Oxford Professor of Tropical Medicine Kevin Marsh has won the Al-Sumait Prize for Health for his contributions to health in Africa. His award recognises his sustained efforts to control and eradicate malaria, which impacts the health of tens of millions of African children.

Professor Marsh's research on malaria spans more than three decades, from studying the immunology of malaria in the Gambia to his recent role as director of the KEMRI-Wellcome programme in Kenya from 1989 to 2014.
