The Prime Minister, David Cameron, was at Oxford University today to mark the launch of a centre that will put the UK at the forefront of revolutionising healthcare through 'big data' and better drug discovery. Phase I of the Centre – the Target Discovery Institute, conceived and developed by the Nuffield Professor of Medicine, Professor Peter Ratcliffe, is now complete.The Department has a history of working closely with the Li Ka Shing Foundation most notably through a long term collaboration, The Li Ka Shing Global Health Programme, led by Professor Jeremy Farrar, Director of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit based in Vietnam.
