Tuberculosis sufferers will be able get drug treatment sooner thanks to a new whole genome sequencing technique. Academics at Oxford University have developed a test to detect which drugs will effectively treat people.

Previous tests of the saliva and mucus resulted in a six-week wait, whereas the new test produces results in three weeks. NDM Professor Tim Peto led this study.
